ACS Board approves cafeteria furniture, dugout purchases

The Argos Community School Board took action to approve two purchases during their meeting last week.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said the purchase of cafeteria furniture from Lee Company was approved at a cost of about $146,000 which is paid for out of the bond money toward the cafeteria expansion project.
“It was tables and chairs for the new cafeteria,” explained Speicher. “We’re going to have significantly more seating in our new cafeteria which was a major problem for us with our enrollment growth. We don’t have enough seating in our cafeteria. At Argos, the cafeteria serves all of the students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. It’ll have little over 300 seats in our new cafeteria.”
Speicher said new signage for the dugouts was purchased for just over $5,517.
Speicher commented, “We put a new roof on our dugouts and we resided our dugouts so now we have new signage. The signage will say ‘Argos Baseball’ with crossed bats on them. They should look nice from our parking lot.”
